Fiona Wemyss studied horticulture at Wye College and set up her nursery, Blueleaf Plants, in 2009 nearby  Succulents are a passion and the nursery sells a wide range of plants as well as Fiona's original and beautiful containers at plant fairs in London and the South East as well as through the Blueleaf Plants shop on ETSY. 

Succulents are popular for a reason - they make excellent houseplants that are easy to look after and are a good size for people who don't have large spaces to grow plants. While many people appreciate their architectural shapes and jewel-like colours, Fiona believes that the plants are still yet to hit their peak as here in the UK our tastes are conservative when compared to the US and the full palate of these extraordinary plants is yet to be discovered. They are adaptable plants and because of their ability to withstand drought and neglect can be used in many different ways which Blueleaf Plants likes to exploit.

Succulent wedding favours are currently popular and Blueleaf Plants offers a 'succulent wedding service' with a menu of wedding favours, table centre-pieces, hair and cake decorations as well as succulents wired for use in bouquets, sometimes working with local florists to combine blooms for spectacular floral bouquets and displays.

Other projects include creating 'living' frames using wooden panels housing houseleeks or more exotic succulents that can be fixed to walls or propped on easels. Succulent letters are popular for christenings, birthdays, weddings and anniversaries and make unique presents.

Blueleaf Plants also specialises in creating green roofs for domestic gardens - creating beautiful and interesting spaces on flat roofs, garage and bike shed roofs in London and Kent using a mixture of hardy succulents and alpines. 

Fiona lectures regularly to local garden and horticultural societies and has run several workshops for the RHS on succulents and at other events and has written articles for professional journals and contributed to books.
