IT'S FREE, but you must be over 14 years old.
Magistrates have existed for over 650 years, with the role developing over time to become an essential part of today’s judiciary. Virtually all criminal cases start in a magistrates' court with around 95% being completed there. The magistrates can acquitt those found not guilty or impose sentences such as fines, community orders or imprisonment.
On the day: arriving at the Court by 9:30 am you will meet your magistrate host and experience our justice system in action - seeing a trial and/or sentencing, and have the opportunity to ask questions about what you've seen. Note: you must have one ticket per person and be ready to show your ticket to gain entry, and expect airport-style security.
