Mid-Manhattan Library has long been NYPL’s largest and busiest circulating library. In August 2017, it closed for a major renovation, which will transform it into the state-of-the-art library that New Yorkers need and deserve. It is expected to reopen in early 2020. Mid-Manhattan Library at 42nd Street is an interim location that offers continuous service during a major renovation to the permanent location across Fifth Avenue. In addition to its extensive collection, Mid-Manhattan Library at 42nd Street is one of several locations in Midtown that provides classes and programs, public computers, Wi-Fi, and areas for work and study.
