An old proverb says "soap is to the body as laughter is to the soul." Who are we to argue with that wisdom? Join us at Humanatease Saturday afternoons at 5PM for Self Improv-ment, a weekly improv jam to shake off the workweek and cleanse the mind and body. We'll get up on our feet and out of our heads, learn and review the core principals of comedy improvisation, and thoroughly enjoy some silly and ridiculous moments together. Improvisers of all skills levels are welcome to this hour and a half of improv and comedy workshop. Whether you haven't done improv since college or never at all, this class is for anyone who wants a break from the mundane.

Alex Simmons has been making people laugh since the tender age of 7 when he appeared on David Letterman's "Dave Talks to the Kid's" segment on The Late Show in 1994. Earning his BFA in Acting from Adelphi University in 2009. Alex's comedic performances can be seen in the works of NYC's Film Repertory Group and on Amazon Prime's Comics Watching Comics. Turning his focus to producing in 2015, Alex has booked comedy independently as the floating comedy brand "The Cackle", and recently at NYC's iconic Piano Bar and Cabaret Don't Tell Mama. Don't Tell Mama Comedy was mentioned in the New York Times, Now This News, Broadway World and featured a rotating weekly lineup of established and up-and-coming comedy and cabaret talent in NYC. Alex has performed long and short form improv with Gotham Comedy Club's Red Tie Mafia and teaches stand-up at the Magnet Theater in NYC.
